Head of Operations - Global Trust Bank

Core Responsibilities:

The Head of the Trust Operations is expected to cover a wide range of strategic, operational, managerial and administration activities. In particular, the Head is wholly accountable for an effective, efficient and professional operations department that is reflective of a market leading Private Bank. The role demands in particular:

  • The development and enhancement of key operational systems, both internal and external, that that will capture core processes e.g. trust accounting, inflow/outflow capture.

  • Providing oversight and monitoring of daily activities e.g. funds flows, corporate actions, documentation receipt/dispatch etc.

  • Supervising and controlling all reconciliation activities i.e. with regard to trust assets and related transactions.

  • Oversight and control of local withholding tax calculations and administration of related payments.

  • Supervision and control of all regular and ad hoc reports to clients, management, regulators and auditors as required.

  • Providing effective leadership and guidance for communication with custodians, broker/dealers etc.

  • Forming close and effective collaboration with other group departments in Japan and overseas to enhance and support administrative tasks.

  • Playing a leading role in developing and implementing the strategic plan to ensure the operations IT infrastructure follows an agreed growth plan.


Core Skills and Requirements:

  • Seven + years of experience in various relevant operational areas gained within the financial services industry in Japan.

  • Experience within the trust business (i.e. with Trust Bank or Trust Company) highly valued.

  • Advanced IT skills required i.e. MS Office, workflow tools, business process management tools etc. Desirable IT skills - candidates with application development experience, i.e. the development and roll-out of operational systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills Japanese (fluent) and English (high business standard).

  • Proven managerial skills required i.e. candidate will lead and develop a team of high-performing professionals.

  • High level of presentational skills required in order to convince management and stakeholders of the confidence and capability of the job holder.
